I have an Arris Surfboard SBG6580. It stopped working randomly. I have unplugged it. I have reset it. I have replaced all cables. When I plug it in the lights on the front flash once and disappear and all you can see is a faint wireless connection icon. The lights on the back are all on. What is going on?
Recently factory reset my modem, using the default log in works fine. It then asks me to change the password no matter what I do it takes me to an oops invalid password screen. Already did a power cycle and clear, reboot, even tried a new browser nothing works just same oops screen every time I attempt to change the password and it won’t let me continue unless I change the password from the default.
My SBG6580 modem starts fine, establishes a connection, and appears to work normally. But will drop after a while and, and attempt reconnect. This happens between several times an hour, and a day+(edit: CM-MAC information removed)Time Not Established Notice (6) Honoring MDD; IP provisioning mode = IPv6 Time Not Established Notice (6) WiFi Interface [wl0] set to Channel 11 (Side-Band Channel:N/A) - Reason:INIT Time Not Established Critical (3) SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing;;CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00;CM-QOS=1.0;CM-VER=3.0;
Yesterday my SBG6580-2 receive light started blinking and wifi stopped working. I have tried power cycling and the hard reset button on the machine. Looking at different trouble shooting didn't help since there wasn't a case written out with the same light combination. What are the next steps I should pursue? When do I say this machine is broken and get another one? Help would be appreciated in confirming if Arris with certain later firmware updates took away the Backup and Restore option in the SBG6580 modem/router.I currently have firmware version SBG6580-184.108.40.206-GA-03-154-NOSH.Years ago, I remember under Basic (even as instructed here: https://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SBG6580-v8-5-x-Configuration-Backup-and-Restore-Tool), there was an option to backup and restore. I haven’t seen it anymore for a few years and just wanted to confirm if this was removed on purpose.I used to see this:Now I only see this:
I have had this sbg6580 for years now and has been good except range. We had an extender that helped but when the painter came they lost it. So, I was looking to replace the extender and called COX. I did a speed test while I was at it and even though COX had download speeds up to 150 mbps. I am getting 50. Also, I cannot get wifi reception even 30 feet down the all. As for the speed, COX is saying modem. I doubt that. So, now I am trying to figure out should I just get extender(s) or should I get a new modem/router and possibly extender. The house is only 2500 square feet (2 stories). Any assistance/advice appreciated.
I have an SBG6580. I use the admin username and motorola for the password and get to the screen prompting me to change my password. I enter admin for the username again and motorola for the existing password, then enter the new password and confirm it, but then I get an error saying invalid password. My password meets all the criteria listed.
I have done factory reset. I have checked connections. I own this modem. The colors on modem are stationary and not blinking at all. I have unplugged for a minute. The wireless light is orange and not green. All lights are lit up and never blinking. This includes after unplugging for a minute and replugging in, checking all connections, and even attempting factory reset. I need help getting wireless connection back to modem and was told this was the free option. Serial number 3797 8133 1623 4126 0602 0006. I own this modem outright. Comcast tried to assist but referred me to you all since it is not their equipment but they verified the modem does read but it is the wireless. Please help as I work remotely. Additionally I asked Ana and tried accessing the web page to look at settings but could not get anywhere. I am having to use my iphone as a hotspot and that connection is limited and not as high speed. It also is very limited.
SBG 6700-AC Tried everything but no luck. I think has something to do with my security settings on laptop. Our devices are no longer connected to our Surfboard SBG6580-2, and when we try to reconnect for internet service, we are told that we have an incorrect password. We have used the Wi-Fi security key that came with the Surfboard all of this time. We’ve reset the Surfboard, including the 30-30-30 reset, and also had Comcast reset it, but we’re still unable to connect. Any solutions to this problem?
i currently have xfiniti 200mb service to my home when i do a speed test from any device hard wired to the modem its great i get that speed. When i do a device speed test that is on wifi I only get 20mb at best upload is consistant for bot WIFI connected devices and ethernet connected. Why is my WIFI download so low? how do i fix it.
When I try to connect to the admin page, I get this message: Secure Connection FailedAn error occurred during a connection to 192.168.0.1. Peer using unsupported version of security protocol.Error code: SSL_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.This website might not support the TLS 1.2 protocol, which is the minimum version supported. It happens on every browser I have. I saw a similar post and the person was told to disconnect the coax cable. Clearly this doesn’t work, because the problem is that the admin page has security issues. I don’t really feel like paying $40 for a live chat, and I can’t time travel back to Internet Explorer where I could override security flaws, so, what are the options?
