How can I split the 2.4 and 5ghz networks?

Hi!

 

I have a Arris SB6190 cable modem and I use Google Mesh Network.  I have a new device that requires 2.4ghz.  How can I “split” the 2.4 and 5ghz signals so that my device would stay connected on the 2.4ghz signal?

The SB6190 is a modem only device. It has zero wireless capability. 

You can ask google about how to do that on their mesh product.

Current setup: Netgear CM3000-->Netgear RBE973S-->2.5gig tp-link switch, Xfinity 1.4gig/240mbps

Hi Everyone!

 

Thanks to plemans’s response, that helped me find the solution without needing to contact Google.  I did some quick researching and learned that Google’s Nest WiFi does not allow you to split bands. You can often get around this issue by creating a guest network, which only operates on the 2.4-GHz band.

So, with that information, I created a guest network and was able to operate the devices using the 2.4-Ghz band.  Problem solved!
