DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 cable modems
sb6183 not connecting properly
The internet thru my sb6183 would not come back on after being knocked out by a snowstorm. I’m trying to trouble shoot. After a factory start the status for upstream power is below spec. 35.7 dBmV-39.7 dBmV versus the +51 dBmV to 45 dBmV that it’s supposed to be. Is that enough to make it not function?
Beware of Emails from Comcast
I recently received an e-mail from Comcast telling me that my Arris modem was no longer compatible with their speed increase (?), and that I needed to upgrade. I bought my modem directly from Arris. I was about to shop for another modem through Comcast (that they conveniently provided a link for), when I noticed that the modem that Comcast claimed I had was different from the one I actually have. I called Comcast and they finally admitted that they sent me the wrong info. They concluded by saying my modem was “somehow still compatible” I called Arris to verify and they gave me the correct info.If anyone who has Comcast gets this e-mail, make sure they are referring to your modem, and check with Arris directly before buying another modem!
Hardwire Mac to Modem
Currently connected via wireless to Arris Surfboard SB8200. I want to connect directly to modem via network cable but when I do that I get the message: Status-Connected; Ethernet has a self assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet. Is there a setting I can change in the Modem to allow connectivity ?
Slow download speed with Aris Surfboard SB8200 & TP-Link Deco X55
A little background first - my COX account is for 500 Mbps, and with theGateway speed tests on the COX website were somewhat greater than 500 Mbps. However, we experienced daily issues with the WiFi, having to reboot theGateway at least once almost every day. Our laptops and other deviceswould lose connection fairly frequently. So, I recently replaced my COX Panoramic Gateway with an Arris SB8200cable modem connecting to a TP-Link Deco X55 (AX3000) mesh system (3 nodes). The setup was easy and our devices don't seem to have any issues connecting. However, download speed tests are now showing 80 Mbps (upload ~10 Mbps). A wired test with my laptop connected directly to a Deco node showed onlya slightly higher download speed of 85 Mbps.According to COX my modem was provisioned properly and it all looks good on their end.So I sent a detailed report to TP-Link support, including allinformation they requested (various speed tests, network topology, firmware version, etc.). They responded

Computer slow, phone fast
The internet on our computers has gotten much slower that Xfinity says it should be. Xfinity is blaming the modem (a 4-year-old SURFboard). There may be something to that as my phone says the speed is 300 to 400, but one computer consistently usually says around 90Mbps (sometimes 50). The other computer never gets above 30Mbps. The computers are hard wired through a switch. The switch also connects 2 smart TVs and 2 Roku devices. If it means anything Netflix can be a little slow to open, but we’ve never had issues with lags while viewing.
I just came back to Xfinity. Which model recommended for wifi modem w/router. Also I use VOIP for my landline. I had an old Surfboard with two ports I plugged in my two vonage lines, one for voice the other fax. Will any of the surfboard models with model-router combo accept these inputs or does it have to be a voice model?Thank you.
S33 slow speeds with xfinity.
Both Arris and Xfinity pointing fingers at each other. Paying for 1.2 gig and getting between 200 and 400 on ethernet. Was getting 900plus on xfinity modem. TG2482A i can't find any update for my device.
I try to access the configuration of my router, and everything is in order, the problem is that I cannot access its advanced configuration, the option simply does not appear or it appears in a gray box, I cannot change anything, I can only access the basics and I need change some settings in the "Advanced" section, I think it's because the firmware is not updated and I can't find information about it. I hope someone can help me, thank you very much for your time.
New SB8200 and Xfinity
I just bought a new SB8200 to replace my DOCSIS 3.0 Modem and I don’t think what the status window is showing me is what I should be seeing. The downstream bonded channels are all QAM256, while the upstream channels are SC-QAM. On the front of the modem, the second light from the top is blue and the third is green.I was on the phone with Xfinity for almost an hour since they had trouble connecting to and they were finally able to provision it. When I asked them about what I was seeing on the status screen they told me it’s that way since it’s a customer-supplied modem, I don’t buy that answer.Channel ID Lock Status Modulation Frequency Power SNR/MER Corrected Uncorrectables 29 Locked QAM256 579000000 Hz -4.6 dBmV 40.6 dB 0 0 13 Locked QAM256 477000000 Hz -5.4 dBmV 39.8 dB 0 0 14 Locked QAM256 483000000 Hz -5.1 dBmV 40.0 dB 0 0 15 Locked QAM256 489000000 Hz -4.9 dBmV 40.1 dB 0 0 16 Locked QAM256 495000000 H
Arris tm722g speed needed
Hi,I can’t find the specs for my Arris tm722g modem. I have a 10/100/1000 ethernet port on my computer, a 15 Mbps internet connection (through the phone/cable company), so I wonder if the TM722G is fast enough to take advantage of the 10/100/1000 ethernet port.My question comes from the fact that I notice some lags when streaming 4k videos. Computer is currently connected via LAN/ethernet.Thanks,
SB8200 Ethernet 2 Activation with separate ISP
Just installed SB8200 and activated port 1 through Cox. Setup was smooth. I also have Verizon Home 5G (Cox is unreliable) running with no conflict. I know how to set pass thru for the 5G modem but need to know how to add the IP address to port 2 on the cable modem. Cox refused to help.
Hi! What is the model number for the power supply for the DG3450, and is there a manual for it avaliable? My ISP Uses it, but the manual they have posted, is provsioning instructions for it. Also, what “Layer” does LACP operate at on the 3.1 “bridge” (SB8200/S33/etc) modems? How would I set this up with something like a HP 3500YL Switch.
is there a Sb8200 firmware update for Cox internet
I am currently getting several dropouts the past few days. I contacted Cox customer service and they stated that Arris has a firmware update for the Sb8200. I went to the site and found nothing. Can anyone please help me with this. Thanks in advanceMax
ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 with Mikrotik router
My ISP is Comcast/xfinity. I am using ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 bridge mode. I have a MikroTik RB2011UiAS-RM Routerboard Rackmount 5xLAN 5xGbit LAN 1xSFP connected to ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1. Here is my issue the ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 is a Gig-e port. The RB2011UiAS will not connect to RB2011UiAS as a 1 Gig port. if I hard set the RB2011UiAS to 100 meg both units will connect, but dhcp will not work or pass traffic. Any suggestions.
Is it correct that Mediacom is responsible for firmware updates to my SB8200 ?
Never mind.Yes - Arris won’t update firmwareYes - Mediacom won’t update firmwareNo - Arris won’t let end users update the software (firmware) on their own SB8200And a bunch of Mediacom lawyers came up with this language on their website: “these 3rd party cablemodems (listed below….) are compatible with our service”, buuuuut they don’t actually say that those 3rd party CMs are products that Mediacom supports. Products that they, in truth, don’t support.So…..rent the Mediacom modem for $13/mo until hell freezes over, or until they raise the rate, again.
SB8200 my connection is dropping intermittently over past 3 days - low upstream power is culprit?
Rebooted laptop, modem, and router -- drops still happening and garbling webex audio.Xfinity mobile app is not showing any indication of outages.Fast.com and speedtest.net always eventually revert to normal speed at round 85 Mbps, but still drops happening. On the SB8200 status screen, comparing expected values onhttps://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SB8200-Cable-Signal-Levelsto what I see, the one that stands out is upstream bonded channel power is at 37 or 38 for me:whereas the doc says acceptable is 45 - 51. So, what do you think? Is this a real problem? could be THE problem? No idea what this power level was 4 days ago when webex was fine.
