My modem/router stops working.  To get it to work again, I unplug it,  open the battery compartment, disconnect and reconnect the battery.  I’ve had this modem/router for a little over four years.  I’m wondering if the problem might be that the battery is wearing out and if so, how would I get a new one?

More likely it just the battery isn’t allowing it to fully shut off. By removing your battery, its fully reboots and pulls a new connection from the isp.

Do you have a screensnip of the event logs and cable connections page when it does stop working?

They’re currently out of stock from ARRIS. https://shop.surfboard.com/arris-surfboard-svg2482ac-touchstone-tg2472-modems-8-hour-battery-and-arris-touchstone-tg8-tm5-tm6-tm7-tm8-modems-10-12-hour-battery-sku-790512/

I recommend an external battery backup if you can’t find one.

It should work when the power cable is plugged in. Try hard reset as the last resort.
