sb6183 not connecting properly
The internet thru my sb6183 would not come back on after being knocked out by a snowstorm. I’m trying to trouble shoot. After a factory start the status for upstream power is below spec. 35.7 dBmV-39.7 dBmV versus the +51 dBmV to 45 dBmV that it’s supposed to be. Is that enough to make it not function?
What Revision # is my SB6183 ?
Hello!I purchased a Surfboard SB6183 a while back and I’m very happy with it. Before I schedule internet service to my new apartment, I want to know whether it will work, or whether I need to purchase a new modem. The service provider lists “ Arris SB6183 Rev 4 “ as a compatible modem, but I don’t know how to identify the revision # of my model. I tried contacting customer service, but apparently my modem is out of warrant.Could someone please point me towards this information? Thanks!
What is the download and upload speed of the SB6183? The page lists two different speeds
This page for the SB6183 at the top lists the download speed as 686Mbps but if you scroll down to the specs it lists the download speed as 400Mbps, so which is it? https://shop.surfboard.com/sb6183-surfboard-cable-modem/. Also this other page lists 400Mbps as well https://www.surfboard.com/products/cable-modems/sb6183/ but during speed tests, I can get over 500Mbps so that makes me think it is 686Mbps but all the pages make this pretty confusing. Also, what is the max upload speed? Since there are fewer upstream channels in the modem than downstream channels, the max upload speed is usually less than the download speed. Based on this article, I’m guessing 200Mbps but does anyone know for sure? https://kb.netgear.com/000060401/What-is-the-difference-between-DOCSIS-3-0-and-3-1
SB6183 modem help.
Good morning everyone, I’ve been having my internet drop randomly and more frequently now, I have been trying to figure out what’s causing this issues, I have checked my router and went through them to see if it was them, but it doesn’t seem like it. So now I’m checking my modem. Here is my event log, sorry if its long. I’m just trying to figure out what all this means. I’m assuming this is what’s causing my internet to drop all of a sudden then come back? My ISP is Xfinity, if there is anything else I can post that can help solve this issue please let me know. lights not working
JUST purchased and activated a 6183. Neither the power light (top) or the internet (bottom) lights up on the front. HOWEVER, when looking at the side panel, I can see the lights ARE on, just not be displaying on the front. And yes, everything is working fine, but a fundamental feature not working on day one doesn't inspire confidence on this critical piece of HW.Anyone else have or seen this issue?
Arris SB6183 modem - cannot access local UI
For some reason I cannot access the Arris SB6183 modem UI at local IP 192.168.100.1 or 192.168.0.1 . When I connect to the modem ethernet to PC directly I get an error saying no IP assigned. I'm not sure what is expected of a modem when it comes to DHCP, but something is acting weird. Any suggestions welcome.
Carrier Locked SB6183
Hello, so I had purchased a SB6183 a few years ago, and had it working with my carrier which is optimum/altice at my old location. I moved and transferred my service to my new residence, but when I tried to use my original modem I had purchased, I was getting an error preventing me from using the modem. I called optimum/altice and they explained to me that for some reason the Mac address on my modem is still associated with my previous location and they couldn't fix it right there and there and would escalate it to another divisions. I haven't heard anything from there on the matter, but before I reach back out to them, is there any alternatives or fixes that I could do on my own, since the modem is mine and shouldn't be locked out because I moved. Thank you.
SB6183 stats and firmwares
Cox support has been trying to shirk their responsibility for configuring and diagnosing internet problems in an attempt to bludgeon us users into renting their scammy integrated modem/router. What firmware versions should we expect to see loaded on the SB6183 and what are normal ranges for the upstream power and downstream SNR stats? Can anyone advise on the age/compatibility on firmware version: D30CM-OSPREY-126.96.36.199-GA-00-NOSH Does anything stand out as deficient for these connection stats? I should add that the problem being experienced is frequent upstream packet loss and poor performance on upstream (typically between 10-50% of quoted capacity).
Arris SurfBoard SB6183 and Spectrum Internet
I was speaking to Spectrum, my ISP, about how they had the wrong modem listed for me in my account. In the process of getting it corrected their technical people said my modem was not capable of the 400 Mbps plan I was paying for. The box for the SB6183 modem states it is capable of 686 Mbps down load speed. The OOKLA speed test while I was communicating with them is showing that I am getting a download speed of 440 Mbs from my home to Portland, ME. The test from their own website gave me the same identical download speed from my home to their Spectrum location in Syracuse, NY>I am clearly getting the download speed that I am paying for and more. Their technical people are saying I should not be getting that type of speed with this modem and that it is only capable of 300 Mbps and they are not budging from that stance. I have been using an ARRIS SB6183 Cable modem for the last three years. I bought and own the modem which was on their approved modem list for both 400 Mbps p
Replaced Arris Modem and SW Download Failure
First off, sorry for the length of this post. I posted the question below on the Charter Spectrum Community a couple of days ago and two different Spectrum employees responded. At the bottom is Charter Spectrum’s response that I contact Arris. Hoping someone can help with the error messages.Question to Charter Spectrum Community. Last Wednesday August 24, I replaced our outdated Arris SB6141 with a Arris SB6183. Our service has went from 100 Mbps to 200 Mbps over the last 4 months. The old SB6141 handled that upgrade fine. But then the announcement from Spectrum stating our service got 50% faster by an immediate 300 Mbps upgrade. The old "unsupported" SB6141 did not handle that, hence the upgrade of our modem to the Spectrum supported SB6183. This modem was also recommended by a Charter Spectrum technician last June. I used the activate[dot]Spectrum[dot]net page and all was successful. We now have 330 Mbps speeds. My question is that on the Friday after our upgrade we are repeatedly see
