G54 Activation for Xfinity Internet

The G54 is compatible with Xfinity services up to the multi-gig Internet speed.  If you’re having trouble activating the G54 with Xfinity service, try the following steps.

NOTE: The G54 does not include voice capability and will not activate with an Internet plan with Voice service.

 

  1. Disconnect the previous modem.
  2. Connect the coaxial cable and the power cable to the G54.
  3. Wait for G54 to be stable or the LED to be solid or flashing green.  It may take up to 5-7 minutes.
  4. Self-activate the G54 with the Xfinity app.
  5. Wait until the LED is stable (solid LED).
  6. Connect a client to the G54 and browse to the Internet.
  7. Onboard the SURFboard Central app to manage your G54.

Hello, I purchased this G54 and still waiting for delivery. Currently I do have Xfinity voice included in my Comcast Package but do not use this feature with any phone hooked up. Only have this package because its a good deal. When it's time to Activate the G54 will I still be able to activate because the above is alittle confusing or states below. Comcast support is telling me it will still Activate even though the voice is in my package plan.

It should still activate fine. Just use the app. the reps will get all confused if you go through them. 

Current setup: Netgear CM3000-->Netgear RBE973S-->2.5gig tp-link switch, Xfinity 2.4gig/350mbps

Ok Thanks, yeah I could not believe this won't connect even if I have Voice in my plan. And I know the G54 is not for Voice no back telephone ports.

I have “Enabled” IPv6 with the APP and when I go into GUI the IPv6 info does populate with Comcast. Any help would be great. I left both “Checked” don’t see any Auto Config
