403 Forbidden not resolved

I see that others are also getting the 403 forbidden message when trying to connect to the cable modem interface.  My modem is the SB 6190.  I tried EVERY suggestion listed in this forum, and chatted twice with Arris tech and we went thru all steps, no go.  I asked both Arris tech’s do I actually NEED to connect to the interface, and if so why?  Security reasons? Both tech’s told me to rest assured that there are NO security issues if the interface can’t be reached and UN / PW can’t be changed.  Is this true?  Anyone know if this is true?  If it’s true, why is there a need at all to connect to the interface?Really a terrible feeling to be locked out of the interface and not knowing if I’m now vulnerable to being hacked.  I’m going to get a new cable modem.  NOT and Arris.

I moved out and used my old router but I do not have to password. If you could send me the password that would be great(Edited private message)

Important to change UN and PW with SB6190?

Hey all.  So my new SB6190 is activated and working (Optimum is my provider).  I’ve tried what has been suggested in this forum in order to log in with 192.168.100.1, yet haven’t been able to.Question...does it matter?  Is it important to get access in order to change UN and PW?  Is there a security issue if not?Not too happy with Arris that logging in is an issue.  I was going to download the mobile app but I don’t download apps that require access to what’s on my phone.Thanks.

Brightness of LED's SB6190

Hi. Surprising how those little (especially the blue ones) LED’s light up my spare bedroom at night. I’m guessing there’s no way to dim them on the unit itself?  There’s no user manual and I’m unable to access the device with that IP address shown in the quick start guide.  Sux but looks like I’ll have to block the lights with something.

Arris SBG190 no internet connection

I came home only the 1st w lights were lite up I've unplugged both modem and router box and after that it blinks yellow and goes back like it was no internet connection at all

Exchanging Arris TM822 for SB6190 - Set up

Hi. I’ve spoken with Optimum, and the SB6190 is supported by their service.  Before I get started disconnecting the TM822 and connecting the new SB6190, would be great to get some input from experienced people here.  I have a Linksys EA7400 wireless router connected and working presently, I’m hoping that it won’t be an issue to connect to the new SB6190.Possibly any videos which might help if/when running into any issues?Thanks very much.

SB6190 Compatibility with VDSL2 Transport Type??

Looking to replace my BrightSpeed modem with the Arris DOCSIS 3.0 Modem (SB6190). I am seeing varying information on it’s compatibility with a VDSL2 Transport Type. Anyone have this info before I unbox the modem and start swapping it out.

hook up to star link with SB6190

I have Starlink set up in my barn that is approximately 150 ft from my house. I ran a RJ45 cable from the Starlink modem to the house. Will the Arris SB 6190 work to bring the internet to the house? Note there is no coaxial cable just the Ethernet RJ 45 from Starlink to SB 6190

SB6183 - how to add 2.4?

I have SB6183 and would like to add a 2.4 ghz wifi option so that I can have both 5 and 2.4 but we are not able to access an admin page. We think the firmware might need to be updated too.  can someone please guide me step by step on how to add a 2.4 ghz wifi option? We use google mesh as well. thank you so much in advance!

My Sb6190 isnt showing the lights

So every single light is showing blue except the power and online light. The light is kind of white but not on if that makes sense. Everything else is working fine other than the fact I can’t connect to the internet, it’s not even showing up anymore. I’ve tried resetting it and turning it off and back on again but nothing seems to help. What’s wrong with it?

Best Surfboard Modem for Comcast 150mb with multiple computers

I have an office with about 5-7 computers needing access to internet at one time.  The speed I am going to be purchasing is the 150mb/100mb and I was looking at the sb6183, but wasn’t sure if there was a better modem for the setup I have. Thanks!

How to get return/refund for the defective modem - SB6190

Purchased this modem 4 months ago and it worked perfectly until “I moved it on the shelf.”  Seemed to go into a standby mode - has power but does not receive internet signal or reset when I tried to do that.  Called cable company to check it out, tech said it’s a modem problem and recommended I purchase an SB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem (which I just did).  My question ~ will ARRIS allow me to return it, and refund me for this defective modem? (I sure hope so.)  Not having internet, because of this defective modem, has put me in a difficult position as I work two days at the office, and three days from home.

Can use router through ethernet cable, but cannot activate for wireless (SB6183)

I am using an SB6183. Xfinity said I could use it, so I bought it to save some money.Xfinity app recognizes that I’m using it, and services are activated. I can get online via the ethernet cable, but cannot connect wirelessly. When I tried to activate the surfboard via the app, it was not listed. Rather, a link to an older app was suggested for me to download. This app is not available on my phone because the app is too outdated.Why can’t I activate it via a website browser?  frustrated. Just want to connect my phone and xbox to my home internet.

Upstream LED light on the modem is white - SB6190

I have about a 5 year old SB6190. Downstream light is bright blue, but my upstream light is either white or out. I contacted my provider and everything shows fine on their end….download of 500 MBPS and upload of 25 MBPS. Is it possible my upload LED has burnt out. I rebooted it and the green LED is flashing as it powers back up, but the download light goes to Blue and the Upload light appears white when it is back on line. Is my modem going?

SB6190 flashing green light

My SB6190 modem, the receive/downstream light (2nd light) is flashing green and not connecting to the internet. Xfinity says nothing is wrong on their end. Scheduled to have a technician come out but the earliest is in 4 days. Hoping to fix the issue before then. I can’t log into the web manager access page. My device is past warranty.

issue with connecting sb6183

I have bought the arris sb6183. I noticed the box does not come with a password for it. Will I be able to access the internet with this if I connect it to wall with coaxial cable plug in power and connect Ethernet to computer and typing in the code starting with 192. or is this setup incomplete?

SB6183 isn't connecting through ethernet to my PC

My PC isn't receiving an internet connection from my surfboard modem. I talked to Xfinity and there's no issues on their side. All the lights are the colors they are supposed to be. (Green blue blue green) but I'm getting no internet through the ethernet cable. I've tried several cables as well and it hasn't helped. Everything is plugged in correctly as well. I've tried resetting the PC numerous times and the modem as well. I've tried turning my firewall off and that doesn't work either. I can't think of anything else I can possibly do. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

FCC Part 15 compliance failure

A nice person dropped by my house after being contracted by a cell phone company to determine who was making noise at a frequency they owned.  Turns out my SB6190 is emitting a huge spurious emission at 695MHz. Does anybody at Arris want this thing to determine how it failed in this manner?  To be clear, it still operates as a cable modem just fine.
