I can see the option but it's greyed out.

are you using a single ssid? If so, thats bandsteering as it allows your device to switch between bands

Current setup: Netgear CM3000-->Netgear RBE973S-->2.5gig tp-link switch, Xfinity 2.4gig/350mbps
