New G20 arrives this past Wednesday. Hook it up through Xfinity assistant.
Thursday, all is well.
Friday Intermittent connections issues. On the phone with Xfinity for hours, they’re sending a guy out on Monday.

I’ve read the other forum posts, this is a common occurrence. Only, it’s Sunday right now and my G20 has been solid blue for the past couple hours. I just had to factory reset the gateway.

On Wednesday I set up the G20 through the web app, then logged into the G20’s GUI interface separately using the Brave browser. Deciding I didn’t want an app to override my access to a G20 I had direct access to, I requested to have my app account deleted.

Incoming conjecture: deleting the app account interfered with local account management creating frequent modem reboots.

For me the tell-tale sign the issue was with the G20 and not Xfinity was that when I logged into the GUI web access on Friday, “Wi-FI” was red-x’d out at the top, as were the 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios (under “Primary Home”). This despite being able to connect via Wi-Fi during periods where my signal was solid. I opted for a factory reset to rule out if my wonky initialization protocol was the cause. After reset I initialed only through the GUI interface (all radios now showing in the green). Then, to test, I set up the app, choosing the option of already set up via GUI.

Everything works now. I hope it all still works tomorrow. If so, the initialization process is sensitive and can cause conflicts between app and GUI if not handled exact.

I hope this helps someone regain control of their G20 and/or help identify and avoid future issues.

Could you please confirm your subscribed internet speed plan? Also, could you explain how the gateway is rebooting on its own?

Hello, yes, my subscribed Xfinity plan is 500 Mbps down/ 35 Mbps up.

As for the gateway reboot, the G20 would not lose power, it just cycled between the flashing orange through blinking teal, back to solid blue. I would have internet connection for hardwire and WIFI for 15-20 minutes, then the G20 would cycle back orange and repeat.

When speaking with Xfinity support, they said they could see when the G20 connection went offline but could not detect any signal drop or other interference through the cable. I did not have a technician come out to check the line since I was able to alleviate the problem which, fortunately has not returned.

Feel free to ask any other pertinent questions as they arise.

Make sure the gateway is placed in a higher, elevated location and away from potential sources of interference, such as concrete walls or microwave ovens.

Also we recommend checking the cable signal levels within the gateway. If the signal levels are out of the acceptable range, they can lead to the kind of rebooting issues you're experiencing.

When the signal levels are within the recommended range, your gateway can maintain a stable, high-quality connection to the internet

Please refer to the link below for instructions on how to check your cable signal levels:

If you find that the signal levels are not within the recommended range, we suggest contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to have them reviewed and adjusted as needed.
