Arris G34 Cable Modem Router Combo

Forum|alt.badge.img

I have an Arris G34 Cable Modem Router Combo. I have set it up and the Internet is working fine. I can’t figure out how to get the router to connect with my printer. When I print the network status/check network connection, it says that the “MAC address filtering check failed. Check whether your router/access point has restrictions such as MAC address filtering. See the documentation of the router/access point or contact your network administrator for assistance.” Can someone please help?

Thank you.

the router doesn’t connect to the printer. The printer connects to the router. I’d check with the printer manufacturer on what it takes for it to joint a network.

Are you referring to a MAC address filter restriction on your network? If so, it’s possible that the device you're trying to connect is being blocked by MAC filtering.

You can check the MAC address filtering settings in the router’s GUI interface or the app you're using. If MAC filtering is enabled, make sure the device's MAC address is added to the allowed list. Alternatively, you can disable MAC filtering to test the connection.

Please login to GUI web portal, which is 192.168.0.1

  1. On the left-hand menu, click the Connection link, then click the Wi-Fi link.
  2. Click the MAC Filtering sub-menu link. The Gateway > Connection > Wi-Fi > MAC Filtering page will appear.
  3. Under the MAC Filtering Settings section, click the SSID drop-down menu to select the SSID to configure.
  4. Click the MAC Filtering Mode drop-down menu and select the Allow-ALL option.

Thank you for all of your responses. I’ve “allowed-all” on the MAC Filtering Mode.

When I print the network status/check network connection page I get the same error message as I did before I looked into the MAC filtering mode. The message I receive is below:

MAC address of your printer may be filtered. Check whether your router/access point has restrictions such as MAC address filtering. See the documentation of the router/access point or contact your network administrator for assistance.

*Signal strength is low (though on our last router, it always said signal strength low and had no problems printing.

How do I check the security key/password check, IP address check and detailed IP setup check? All of these things come up as “unchecked” when looking at the network status/check network connection print out. My MAC address filtering check still says “fail.” My SSID, communication mode and security mode all say “pass.”
