I can connect via ethernet to my laptop from my Arris 36, but I am unable to find the wifi signal. What am I doing wrong. I am replacing my old modem/router. I did the new setup via the comcast app but my phone wouldn't scan the tiny qr code on the bottom of my modem so I manually input the MAC number, but no wifi.

In this case we would suggest you to check on the xfinity app whether your modem is Offline or Online. Also try performing hard reset on the modem for 15-30 secs by pressing and holding reset button at the back of your modem and then you can also try activating modem by contacting your service provider once again to make the modem get configured properly.
