I have an older ipod touch. I'm trying to get Wifi but not connecting.  I have Xfinity internet. I tried both SSID on the box but won't let me join. All other electronics hook up fine. Airplane mode is off. Any suggestions would be helpful 

how old is the ipod touch? What generation? 

There was many older devices that had issues with the change to wireless AX. MIght be time to surf the apple forums and see if anyone else has had that specific issue. 

You could try disabling wpa3 and just go with wpa2 or wpa2/wpa3 mixed mode
