I have had trouble with the G34 since I bought it. Slow speeds, trouble connecting & tv pixelating. I have 1g and my download is between 500-700 mbps. Xfinity blames Arris, Arris blames Xfinity. I upgraded my service to 2g and a technician came out and verified that’s what I’m getting. I called Arris tech support and was told that 700 was the best I could do. He also told me G34 won’t work on 2g service but the G36 will. Best yet when I asked about the 4g download speed in big orange ad on the front of the box he said that I have 4 ethernet ports 1g for each port.

The G34 gateway is not compatible with a 2Gbps internet speed plan. According to Xfinity, the G34 is approved for plans up to 1Gbps.

To check which modems or gateways are approved for specific speed tiers, please refer to the following link provided by Xfinity.

Regarding the representative’s statement about 4Gbps wired speed — that is correct. The G34 has four Ethernet ports on the back, each capable of delivering up to 1Gbps. When used together, they can provide a combined throughput of up to 4Gbps.

As for Wi-Fi speeds, they vary depending on the performance of the connected devices. For example, one device may reach 500Mbps while another may achieve 800Mbps. Since Wi-Fi operates over radio frequencies, it is more susceptible to interference.

To minimize interference and improve performance, place the G34 in an open area and at a higher elevation.
