My garage is 160 feet away from my Arris G34 modem/Wi-Fi.  I plan to run Cat6 inground cable from the G34 to the garage.  What device would you recommend installing in the garage?

You can install another router (in access point mode), a wireless extender (in access point mode), or just buy an access point. At 160ft away, you shouldn’t have much interference from the primary home but I’d still make sure the router and garage device are using different channels on the 2.4ghz/5ghz band.
