I have a G34 with Xfinity, 8 months old. Drops the internet and have to reboot several times a day. Going to fix it today or replace it, any thoughts?

Could you please confirm your subscribed internet speed plan and the name of your internet service provider?

When the internet connection drops, does it seem like the gateway is rebooting on its own?

Does the connection drops on both Ethernet and Wi-Fi?

We recommend reprovisioning the G36 and checking the cable signal levels within the gateway. If the signal levels are out of the acceptable range, they can lead to the kind of connectivity issues you're experiencing.

When the signal levels are within the recommended range, your modem can maintain a stable, high-quality connection to the internet

Please refer to the link below for instructions on how to check your cable signal levels:

https://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/knowledge/G34-G36-Cable-Signal-Levels

The cable signal levels displayed on the interface page reflect the signals being transmitted by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

If you notice that these signal levels are outside the recommended range, we suggest contacting your ISP to have them reviewed and adjusted accordingly.

While ISPs may have their own approved signal ranges, for this gateway to function properly, the signal levels must align with the acceptable values outlined in the reference article provided.

Thank you for the reply. Here’s a few answers, not sure any of them will help.

  1. Xfinity
  2. Internet speed - up to 1.3Gbps
  3. The modem drops all internet, Ethernet and Wi-Fi
  4. I reinstalled my old Netgear router, everything seems fine now. No slight against your product, but I am a dunce when it comes to this sort of thing and simply hit the easy button. Plus, I REALLY don’t like dealing with Xfinity.

The speed plan you have selected from your internet service provider is not compatible with the G34 gateway, which is the primary reason for the gateway’s reduced performance. It is important that the gateway is properly aligned with the supported speed plan, as choosing an incompatible plan can lead to connectivity issues and degraded performance.

For your reference, please review the link below, which lists the Xfinity‑approved modems and gateways along with their supported speed plans.

We recommend downgrading your current speed plan to one that is compatible and approved by your internet service provider to ensure optimal performance

Thank you for the reponse, I appreciate the info. Can I ask a fairly basic question? Which Arris product is compatible with the parameters I have? I'm out $200 for the G34, which I was told by Xfinity and Best Buy would work, so what's another couple hundred. I have no clue who to believe at this point, as mentioned, I am not tech savvy.
