So here’s a bit of weirdness.  Just bought a G36 and everything seemed fine.  I gave the “Primary Home” 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSID’s the same names and passwords as the old modem, so all my devices should all automatically connect without having to select a new network and enter passwords.  Or so I thought.  After a few minutes I realized all my PC’s and Ring devices were connected and sending/receiving data, but none of my Apple devices were.  They showed as connected to the old (same as new) SSID names, but no data.  This was simultaneous with my PC’s and Ring devices sending/receiving data.  I tried forgetting the networks and re-entering passwords on the Apple devices, nothing worked.  Out of desperation, I tried using the two “Guest” SSID’s and all the Apple devices connected with data.  I honestly don’t know or understand why it worked, but it did.  Just thought I’d share.

I replaced a prior cable modem/router with an Arris G34 (with same SSID and passcode, same on both frequencies) and some of my devices (Bose Home speaker, etc) needed a reboot to work properly. Did you try to use the new (same as old) network after a reboot of an Apple device?

Sure did.  When the reboot didn’t work I started to feel a little desperate!

Only older Apple devices might need this? Perhaps the “Guest” SSIDs don’t use the WPA2/WPA3 Mixed security, only WPA2?
