G36 - GUI Invalid Login Credentials (They're correct)

I keep running into this same issue and there is no apparent resolution.

I factory reset the G36. Do the first login and create the new password.

I then set the router to bridge mode and it logs me out of the GUI.

I then try to login again with the username "admin" and the same password that was configured during the first login.

It spits back "Invalid Login Credentials!"

I try from a new browser. Same issue persists. I try clearing the cache. Same issue persists. I try from the Mobile app. Same issue persists.

I can factory reset the device again and again and only get to the same exact point and yet the same exact issue keeps persisting.

I'm not sure what else I can do. Is the software/GUI really just that bad? What am I supposed to do here? I've already gone through this process multiple times with a factory reset so I'm looking for another solution.

if you’re using a different modem, then you don’t want bridge mode. That’ll cause issues.

Here’s the guide on using it as a router only device.

Not sure if it’ll function as an access point though

When you setup the password, are you making sure to use 10 characters, 1 special, 1 upper case letter, 1 lower case letter, and a number?

I’ve seen certain instances where the password is changed but not appropriately and so users can’t log back in.

Another thing to check, if you’re setting up the first time, try using the 192.168.100.1 for the setup address that establishes the password.

The password is 10 characters. It also consists of all of the following - lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

If I change the password for the wifi connection (step 2) during the initial login portion it will actually log me out and when I go to login again "admin" is pre-populated on the login page. I can use the login password I configured there (in step 1) and it works as expected- no invalid credentials error.

However, after I get logged in and change the router mode to Bridge Mode it logs me out again. This time when I attempt to log back in the username is NOT pre-populated and this is when the issue seems to occur.

I'll try with the 192.168.100.1 method when I have the time today & will report back.

@plemans - the 192.168.100.1 method doesn’t seem to work, unfortunately:

Any other suggestions?

when you have it in bridge mode, are you able to use it? there really isn’t much to change in bridge mode as its functioning as a modem only device. You can only connect a single device to it. Might not need to modify it at all

I have this gateway/router laying around as I got a better internet deal by using Xfinity's router. I'm trying to make use of this Arris Surfboard device by using this as a wireless access point/extender, but I can't get into the GUI to edit any of the settings or get it connected to the other network after changing the router mode to Bridge Mode.
