Hey Everyone! I need ypur HELP sticking to XFINITY. 

 

 i'm not technical enough to really understand all of this. Just enough to make myself dangerous.

Thank you in advance for anyone that can help walk me through this. You have no idea how grateful I will be. 

I am having major issues with xfinity. They are blaming my modems.For the reason, my download speeds are so slow. NETGEAR Night Hawk, NETGEAR C7000 2 and ARRIS G34. Slow download speeds. Ranging from 150 to max 350 ish.

I had a 1000 gig plan. Just upgraded to 1200 because it was less expensive. 

Im in VERMONT

I was told by a buddy of mine an independent contractor that xfinity and spectrum, both throttle down speeds to all other modems EXCEPT their own and or the 5 or 6.They have on their approved list on the website. Specifically the models on their site. 

I have been dealing with this issue for years now. Got in touch with xfinity, had a tech come out. Techs have been here at least 6 times in 7 years. They don't see any issues in here. Ran a bunch of tests online.I spent hours with them. At the end of it, they said, oh, it's on your end.  The netgear modem is the issue. 

So I went out today, bought the ARRIS G34. it's slower than the net gear. 

The G36 is on the approved modem list not the G34. Well, the G34 was slower than the net.Gear.

I went to xfinity tonight.I rented the XB8. It's running at over 900mvs.

I did all this to test my theory that xfinity is throttling down speeds to all of the other modems other than theirs or the 5 or 6 exact others approved on the website. 

I have the tech going to be here Tuesday 12/31 at 8am. It's 12/30 at 7:30 pm.

I can't be the only one that has run into this. I'm looking for as much backup to show this senior tech. What their company is doing.

The biggest question is between the G34 and the XB8. Is there a significant  difference in their specifications to justify being  half as fast?

Just in case they a G36 Does the G34 and the G36 have that much of a separation in specifications to justify the G34 running so slow?  know the tech is going to say. The g 36 is the newest model, so the G34 is the up to date. I want to have enough information dudes flip it right back on him.

The G34 is compatible with speeds up to 1 Gbps on Xfinity.

Since you're experiencing slow internet speeds on the G34, could you clarify if the issue is with the wired or wireless connection?

Also, could you share the speed you're currently getting?

 

Wired connections, the speech ranged from 150 to 350mps download.

 

With the new technology, I found out with xfinity..

They have 6E and 7…

 

The G34 can't run with that. 

G34 is compatible with wifi6. Since you are experiencing slow speeds with wired connections, I would suggest checking the cable signals to make sure all the signals are in range.

The tech from Xfinity came out. 

 

Not an issue with the connections. Service to the house or signal strength. 

 

Hooked up the Xfinity rented modem using the same connections, same cables. 

 

Immediately saw and increase from the high 300's to 1100mps...

6E and 7 

Unfortunately the G34 modem will not produce good connection speeds.
