I just purchased a surfboard Wi-Fi cable modem AX 3000. I am trying to install it, but I do not have a cable coming into the house. All I have is Cat five cables coming in. How do I connect the cable modem to the Cat5 wiring coming in?

Could you please confirm the name of your internet service provider? You mentioned that there is only a CAT 5 cable is connection, which suggests it might be a fiber connection—could you please confirm that as well?

If it is indeed a fiber connection, please note that a CAT 5 cable typically supports speeds only up to 100 Mbps, as it has a maximum capacity of 100 Mbps under ideal conditions.

Additionally, if your internet service is delivered via fiber and not through a coaxial connection, we recommend switching the G34 to router mode, since the G34 functions as both a modem and a router.

Please refer to the link below for instructions on how to change the G34 to router mode.

Could you please confirm whether your internet service provider uses a coaxial connection or a fiber optic connection?
