Modem activated but no internet on G36

We are trying to set up a refurbished G36 Gateway modem/router. Our Provider, Optimum, says the unit is activated but we still do not have internet service. Numerous restarts and a hard reset - no luck. After over an hour on the phone the lady gave up.  They won’t sent a technician because it’s not their equipment. Help!

Were they able to ping the modem from their end? 

What is showing under the cable connections page of the modem? Should show upstream/downstream info

The customer service representative said that she showed our unit and it had been activated so I guess that means they could ping it.  I don’t know how to get to the cable connections page of the modem. I was told I could set up the unit through this app and the app had me contact Optimum to activate.  After that, when I tried to get customer service, I got this page. We have downloaded the user’s manual. Hopefully that will help us.

connect something either wireless or wired to the modem and go to 192.168.100.1  you should be able to access it there

Husband ended up calling the Arris. The guy there had him enter the security key as the password. That worked and we were able to connect.
