Question

Ps5 wired cat8 connection max at 100 mbps. Wifi 400 mbps what gives

Forum|alt.badge.img

I have Xfinity 1 gbps service.  The G36 was suggested by them.  I get 1 GB with my computer.  Same cable gets 100mbps with PS5.  I've done port forwarding and upnp.  I've checked updates on PlayStation and cleared cache.   Im using a cat 8 cable.  The router and cable are brand new.  I'm getting 400 mbps with wifi. . . I just don't know why it's maxing out at 100 mbps.

Try a cat 6 cable. Some devices are more sensitive than others

Appreciate the response. . . But I've tried a Cat 5, 6, and 8.   No dice.  All the cables give 1 GBps on  PC. . . And 75-100 mbps on PS5.  I've changed DNS. . . Port forwarded. . . All the bells and whistles.  I'm beginning to think my jack on PS5 is bad. . . But if that were the case. . . I shouldn't get any signal I would think.

100mbps means that 3 of the 4 pairs on the ethernet are connecting and one isn’t. It needs all 4 pairs to connect for gigabit speeds. You can check the port on the ps5 if you’ve already tried all those different cables and different ports.
