Scheduled reboot

Is it possible to schedule a periodic reboot of a G36?

Best answer by plemans

You could always get a cheap smart switch/plug and just schedule a time.I’ve done that on devices before

Seems a bit kludgey, but you are totally correct.

Does  the CM2000 support a scheduled reboot?

No it doesn’t.

Why are you wanting a scheduled reboot?

My Arris G36 periodically loses Internet connectivity. A reboot restores connectivity. A scheduled reboot might address the issue. Your comment regarding a smart switch / plug would accomplish that, but I thought to explore a built in solution first.

When its dropping, log into it and check its cable connections page and event logs.

Post a copy of them back here when it drops.

the cmts can switch what channels your modem is on and it could be causing it to be on poor channels with issues. the reboot can make it switch back to decent channels. So its worth checking that.

Here’s a snip of the G36 event logs around the time of failure. I have a copy of the entire day’s event log but the option 82 /option 24 critical events seem to be most interesting.

The option 24 & 82 critical errors are commonly reported for Xfinity connections. A lot of the chatter points to local devices that are failing and suggests disconnecting each device in turn to locate the failing device. I suspect that the Arris G36 is the issue. This G36 was a replacement for the comcast rental. The comcast rental did not have this problem.
