I cannot the admin portal up on wired connection.  Looked through all positions - updated firmware, reset modem. User name and password found on the mobile app used on login page of admin portal. Splash screen stating “login first” appears for a moment and then back to overview page with login. Using chrome, which G36 doesn’t like so also tried MS Edge - same result. Need to check advanced settings in G36 as my child’s Yoto player no longer will connect to g36. 

The Cable Operators (MSOs) have complete control of what cable modem/gateway hardware they will allow installed and the firmware it uses, this is because they own the coaxial cable that is connected to the ARRIS (G36), because of that the Firmware updates are pushed by them, and any update needed as well. Any associated firmware updates are automatically deployed by the cable operator. This is not an ARRIS only implementation, but the required implementation of any cable device manufacturer.

In this case we would suggest you to perform hard reset on the modem then you can access modem GUI using default login credentials. But after resetting the modem will go to default setup any custom settings will be removed so use the default network name and password to connect to your network.
