If the G54 DNS Relay selection is disabled, and the Statically Configured option is selected, the setup is ignored and Obtained Automatically is returned.

While this would seem like it is the correct option in the first place, it results in no DNS service no matter what LAN DNS option is selected.

What is this LAN DNS option supposed to do, and how should it be set up?

When you click on configure statically, you’re supposed to be setting it on the device itself for its own dns.

automatically assigned means you’re pointing it as a specific device (like a pihole or unbound server), and isp DNS (the auto assigned 75.75…...), or a DNS server like googles/cloudfare’s.

Yes, I would prefer to use the Automatic mode, but it doesn’t matter which mode I choose, if DNS Relay is not enabled, I get no DNS service.

What are you actually trying to do here?

Setup a pihole? unbound server?

Having each device using their own dns?

Setup opendns?
