Arris G18 modem router combo

I want to use it as a router

Even after resetting it just blinks continuously and it is really hot

I chose connect gateway, should I have chosen the other option?

What can I do?

If you're using a standalone modem, you'll need to switch the G18 into router mode. To do this, connect a computer to the G18 either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable.

Regarding the gateway's temperature — it's normal for it to feel warm during operation. However, if it’s too hot to touch or unbearable to hold, please let us know so we can assist you further.
