I am setting up a mesh network in my house to use primarily for music streaming and routine web processes and email.  With respect to my audio system the best location for the modem and primary router would be in the basement just below my stereo gear. I realize that the standard guidance is not to place the modem router in the basement; but again that would be the best spot for my audio.  I plan to have satellite routers on the first and second floors of the house.  Has anyone set things up this way?  Has it worked well?

When I first got a mesh system, I messed around with layouts quite a bit to see what worked best for coverage and for devices roaming. It wasn’t always the expected layout that works the best as things in the walls (think hvac/plumbing) changing the broadcasting a bit. I’d recommend trying several layouts of placing the router and satellite to see which works best for your specific home.
