I PURCHASED A SET OF SURFBOARD W31 ROUTERS A FEW YEARS AGO.

PERFORMANCE IS GREAT

I FELT IT WAS TIME TO UPGRADE SO THROUGH AMAZON I ORDERED W133 ROUTERS

THE ACTUAL UNITS THAT CAME IN THE BOX SAY W31 ON THE UNITS.

IS THAT A MISTAKE IN BOXING?

Hi blackhart762,

The W31 is a single router and W133 is a dual router . Also W133 is not the upgraded version of W31 , the actual unit that you had purchased is W31 (Dual Routers)  which is also known as W133 .

Please check the link of W133 : https://www.surfboard.com/products/max-mesh-wi-fi-systems/w133/.

Let us know if this helps .

So there is no reason to upgrade to a newer system since my system is the same?

Is there an upgrade to what I have?

Hello @blackhart762

The mAX W161 is the upgrade model for W133 Mesh system.  The mAX W161 includes 2.5 Gb WAN Ethernet Port for multi-gig Internet speed and Wi-Fi 6e for 6 GHz band support.  You would need to replace your W31s with the W161 system.  The W161 cannot be added to the existing SURFboard Mesh network.
