I just got a w130 surfboard max plus system. I’ve been around computers over 25 years so I’m not a complete noob. 
I have to say the app leaves a lot to be desired.
I have a Netgear CM1000v2 cable modem (not WiFi). The app at one point tells me to connect the Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the w130. I may be assuming a lot but the only Ethernet it could be is the output from the Netgear modem. That is the same cable that connected the modem to the router I’m trying to replace. Then on the next page it asks for the WiFi login. It will not under any circumstances let me use the wired connection even though it just instructed me to do it. 

Any suggestions? Thanks.

  2. Not sure directly about the login process for the app but when I setup one of my older arris’s, that was to setup the wifi ssid/password. Or its asking you to connect to the default wifi

I think there’s a way to patch the W130 into my existing WIFI router’s network (also a Netgear) but I thougt the new Arris was supposed to provide a speed improvement. It seems like pulling the data from the Netgear cable modem through the Netgear router and then over the wifi to the Arris creates a bottleneck with the older hardware and the only thing I gain is the mesh throughout the house. I was hoping to replace the Netgear router with the Arris router/mesh system. That’s why I want to hard-wire it to my Netgear cable modem.
