Arris router sbg6900-ac delivers only 45 mbps Wi-Fi on laptop placed next to it while cable connected desktop to the same router gives 340 mbps. What’s causing this much degradation of WiFi signal? Thanks in advance.

Could you please confirm your subscribed internet speed plan and the name of your Internet Service Provider?

Also, as you mentioned that you are getting speeds above 300 Mbps on a wired (Ethernet) connection but only around 50 Mbps on Wi‑Fi, please clarify which Wi‑Fi network you are using for the speed test — the 2.4 GHz network or the 5 GHz network.

Appreciate your response and apologize for missing key detail: subscribed internet plan is Wowway 300 MBPS. 2.4 GHz network gives 30 MBPS & 5 GHz gives 50 MBPS. I have tried to changed channel - that hasn’t helped. Wowway said, you should be getting at least 100 MBPS on 2.4 GHz Wifi. Wowway had no other solution to offer. Thanks for your interest.

Just to clarify, Wi-Fi speeds can vary from device to device depending on their hardware capabilities and overall performance. If the speed remains consistent across all devices and you’ve already tried changing the Wi-Fi channels but the issue still persists, we would recommend performing a factory reset on the modem/router.
