I had an open line of Communication with AMY arris Technician in China, but now will not reply to any of my messages. Willing to pay for support. Help please
Drone 1 – Firmware Updated Per Arris Instruction
- Background: Arris authorized and instructed that the flight controller firmware be updated to PX4 v1.15.4, which was performed successfully.
- Result:
- Compass calibration does not start
- GPS never achieves 3D lock
- Motors do not respond after arming
- ESC calibration fails
- CUAV’s Determination:
- The firmware update erased all original integration parameters
- This included essential settings for PWM outputs, compass/GPS assignments, airframe setup, failsafes, and more
- CUAV confirmed their hardware is functional but cannot operate due to missing configuration
- Key Point: Although Arris approved the firmware update, they did not provide a backup .param file, leaving the system without its required custom settings.
- Next Steps: CUAV instructed that functionality can only be restored by:
- Reinstalling Arris’ original configuration
- Or manually rebuilding the full airframe configuration — a complex, trial-and-error process not supported by CUAV
Drone 2 – Original Firmware & Parameters Intact
- Background: This drone has not been updated. It still contains the original firmware and parameters as provided by Arris.
- Result:
- Compass calibration fails at 99%
- GPS will not lock
- Motors will not arm or spin
- CUAV’s Determination:
- Since the original firmware and settings remain, and the compass/GPS still fail, CUAV suspects:
- Wiring faults
- Improper hardware integration at the airframe level
- Or malfunctioning components (e.g., GPS, ESCs)
- CUAV reviewed logs and confirmed their flight controller appears healthy, but cannot determine why systems are not responding
- Since the original firmware and settings remain, and the compass/GPS still fail, CUAV suspects:
Final Summary
- Drone 1: Firmware was updated per Arris’ direction, but Arris failed to provide a backup of their configuration, resulting in full parameter loss. Compass calibration does not start.
- Drone 2: Retains original configuration, but still fails. Compass calibration halts at 99%.
- CUAV’s Position: Their hardware is functional, but the drones are not airworthy due to:
- Drone 1: Missing configuration after Arris-approved update
- Drone 2: Unknown integration issue despite original configuration being intact
- Path Forward: Neither drone can fly without:
- Full parameter restoration from Arris
- Or extensive manual reconfiguration and rewiring
