I am currently using COX for internet at 1 gig download and 100 m upload. Every day in the event log the date is set to 12/31/1969. As soon as it does this I lose internet connection until several minutes later the correct time and date are set.

Hi btharp,

Thanks for sharing the event log screen, yes the change of the date/month/year can be seen clearly from  31/12/1969 back to the present date/month/year.

Have you contacted  Cox about this? usually, the event log is monitored only by Cox only.

Please contact them and let us know if you are able to fix it.

Usually, if there is no internet or slow speed or intermittent issue in S33, we check the Ip address/ cable signal levels and do a “Reset” if required.

COX stated that the modem is the problem and they cannot do anything about it, and to contact the modem manufacturer.

Hi btharp,

We apologize for the inconvenience. that you are facing with your modem, the logs are values read by technicians from the internet provider end, since the logs are what the coaxial cable transmits and the log screen on the router is the translator so can be easily read by them, the coaxial cable is owned by the Internet service provider.

Hence we would request you to please contact Cox again and check with them.

I have contacted COX so many time each day of the outages and I finally talked to a tech savy person and asked her to place a note in the complaint to have the I.T. personnel look into the 12/31/1969 date and time issue. After 2 days the date and time issue stopped, but every day the communications channels as well as the communications levels change. Still looking for the 1 gig and 100 meg speeds that I have purchased and pay for, and can’t forget about how some stability for everyday use would be nice.

To check on the speed levels of S33, connect it directly to a computer and run a speed test at “speedtest.net”.

If you are not acquiring the speed in the  acceptable range, then we need to check cable signal levels by clicking the link below:
