S33v2 Keeps Dropping Internet Connection

Forum|alt.badge.img

I am having a recurring problem.  At random times, my S33v2 Modem will lose its connection to the internet.  No warning, and no clue why it is happening.  Power cycling the modem restores its connection, and my ISP cannot detect any problems.  I run the modem through an ASUS Wi-Fi Router, and when the connection drops, we still have network access, so I know the router isn’t the issue.

I have looked through a few threads, and have accessed the Web Manager to check the signal power levels.  The downstream power levels and SNR levels are within the recommended range.

The upstream power levels however, are within the acceptable range (35 - 50 dBmV) according to my ISP (Xfinity), but NOT within the range suggested by the manufacturer (45 - 51 dBmV).

Picture below.

I have done a hard reset of the modem, via the reset switch on the bottom, but nothing changed.

I am at my wits end with this, because there is no predicting it, and I’d like to avoid buying a new modem if possible.  This one still works, and meets our current needs in regards of speed.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

If you post the downstream with the upstream we can compare the 2 as they should be fairly reciprocal. plus your event logs help check it

Current Downstreanm:

Current Upstream:

Event Log (modem was reset on 20/3/2025 *after* dropping event, connection has not dropped since then).

I haven’t had the issue occur again yet, and just got word from my ISP that they cannot detect an issue on their end.

Random question related to this: would it make any difference for the connection status/strength I was connecting to the router through the 1 GE or 2.5 GE port?  Not asking about speed, just connection stability.

Your logs and values are indicating a line issues. Your channels should be within 3.5dbmv of each other. Yours are way outside of that. Plus optimal is -7.5 to 7.5. Just ok is -15 to 15dbmv. I usually try to get between that -7 and 7. And your logs are indicating its having connections issues.

Start with checking your line for kinks, damage, corrosion, loose connections, bad splitters, any splitters, amplifiers, etc. Remove any thing amp’s, splitters, and direct connect the modem to where it comes into the home. Start with that and see if it helps.
