xfinity could not activate the modem. they could see the modem and run tests but could not activate it. Xfinity documents the modem as compatible.

The modem’s front light was solid blue. The modem was very hot.

My old modem still works so I don’t believe there is a problem with cables.

Shall I exchange it? It was purchased from amazon.

Probably faster to exchange it versus rma if you’re still within that period. Amazon is pretty darned fast with it

If the modem is too hot to touch, I would suggest disconnecting the modem from the power outlet under safety measures.

Also, please visit www.arris.com/consumersupport for further assistance regarding warranty claims.

Thanks plemans for the advice. I returned the modem to amazon and will consider getting another one later.

If xfinity could not activate the modem then I assume there is a hardware defect and your advice was much appreciated.

If you’re on xfinity, look at the S34 next time and not the S33. The S34 is approved for the mid-split next generation increased upload speeds. the S33 is not.

Thanks for the advice. Buying the S34 makes sense.
