I have had an s33 for several years. Optimum will not update the firmware. I am getting us profile assignment changes every minute or more. Optimum has been out here twice in the past week and says it's not their problem. I wanted to upgrade to the s34 to rule out problems with my modem, but there has been no availability for a couple of months on every online or in person retailer. Is the s34 being discontinued? Will a new model be coming soon?

I don’t think we are going to get any answers.  Whatever secrecy is going on with Arris cannot continue to be my problem. I will move to Netgear which they apparently want us all to do.

I’m looking at Motorola now. Used them for years with no problems. I have had issues with Netgear.

Thanks. I need a modem only with no wifi and do not want to disable the wifi.  I also need 2 ports, not for link aggregation but for separate IP addresses for my business.

We apologize for the inconvenience. The S34 has not been discontinued; it is simply out of stock on our website (shop.surfboard.com). We recommend checking with other retail stores and continuing to monitor availability.

Since you mentioned needing a cable modem with two Ethernet ports, you may also consider the SB8200 as an alternative if you’re unable to locate the S34.

Regarding the firmware DOCSIS standards dictate that the service provider must distribute firmware updates to cable modem devices.  The end-user cannot simply install an update like most other network-enabled devices.

ARRIS develops the software update and makes it available to service providers.  The service providers qualify, test, and distribute the software update to devices on their network.  ARRIS has limited control or visibility on distribution by the service providers.

I repeat, “There has been no availability for a couple of months on every online or in person retailer.”

There is NO AVAILABILITY anywhere for months!!!

I do not want to go backwards to the older and less capable SB8200.

Thank you.
