I understand that the SB6190 cannot have bridged mode enabled or disabled? Does this mean that the modem operates in bridge mode? That is, in essence, bridge mode always on?
SB6190 functions purely as a modem, passing the internet connection directly to a connected device. It does not have any options to enable or disable bridge mode features.
Thank you. This is what I thought. I have been using it for two years. I needed to know if my router (which in turn provides internet to all wired and wi-fi devices) was getting IP an address from SB6190. It is. The router in turn provides DHCP.
Yes, your understanding is correct. Since the SB6190 plug and play device , your router will get an IP address from the service provider when the SB6190 is connected to them. Your router then handles DHCP, providing IP addresses to all your wired and Wi-Fi devices.
