Hello, I have a refurbished Surfboard SB 6183 modem that I purchased off of Amazon in 2017. I’m trying to use it on my Optimum Altice account now but support is saying that they can’t get the modem to activate. Any idea why it can’t be activated?

Could you let us know the current LED light status on the modem?
Have you checked the internet connection using a hardwired Ethernet connection?
Also, have you tried any basic troubleshooting steps like performing a power cycle or a factory reset?

Hi, LED’s were good and I was actually able to ping out to the internet, so the modem is working fine. Optimum just said that they couldn’t “activate” the modem, so I wasn’t able to browse the internet at all.

I called Optimum back and they were able to get it working this time. No mention of what the issue was on their end.
