Arris SB8200 won’t go to blue on the indicator lights or 3.1

I just purchased and installed with Cox an Arris Surfboard modem model SB8200V3, which is a DOCSIS 3.1. I replaced an older version from 2019 which was a DOCSIS 3.0. The unit is working and providing a connection but the receive and send indicators are only a solid green, not a solid blue, which means it is operating as a 3.0 and not a 3.1. The tech from Cox went through and confirmed all the necessary requirements to operate at 3.1. Does anyone know why it’s not at blue or 3.1? I tried calling the for Arris, but the call always drops and is never answered. Is there an issue with Arris?

The SB8200 is a plug-and-play device and does not require any configuration.

If your internet service provider claims to be sending DOCSIS 3.1 signals, there is a way to verify this. You can check the signal type by logging into the modem’s web interface.

Please refer to the link below for instructions on how to access the web interface.

Once logged in, navigate to the Product Information tab and look for the Standard Specification Compliant field. If it shows DOCSIS 3.0, it indicates that your provider is not currently delivering DOCSIS 3.1 signals to your modem.

You might check to see if you’re meeting your speed requirements that you pay for. It wouldn’t be the first time a company set some of their devices for using the docsis 3.0 specs if they supply the required speeds. (they shouldn’t be it isn’t unheard of)
