Hi, I purchased an arris modem: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M8BNVSD?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

I would like to check if this router is compatible with it: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC750-Dual-Router-R6020-100NAS/dp/B01NBBA1HS/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3VD3NFEUB8IC3&keywords=router%2Bwifi&qid=1699888830&sprefix=router%2Bwifi%2B%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-3&th=1

Thank you!

Is it compatible? Yes.

But the R6020 is a old/slow router. It only has 10/100mbps ports so you’re wired speed is limited to 100mbps. And with as slow as its wireless is, you’ll be getting less than that over wireless.

I’d avoid it unless you already have it but then I’d be saving for an upgrade.

thank you! but doesn’t it say that the wireless speed is upto 750 mbps?

2 things with that.

  1. it doesn’t matter how fast the wifi is if the incoming speed is limited because of the 10/100mbps port. It can’t go faster than the speeds it receives.
  2. those wireless speeds are: 2.4ghz: 300mbps (link speed) and 5ghz: 450mbps.
    • and thats link speeds. 5ghz tends to be 55-65% of link speed and 2.4ghz even worse as its a slow band.

Thats really an anemic router and I’d avoid it. There’s much better options out there and I’d at least look for one with gigabit ports. If price is the biggest concern, look on amazon at renewed gigabit routers. You can find much much faster routers for not much more price. You won’t regret it as that router isn’t very good.
