My Arris Sb8200 cable modem doesn’t provide internet to my WiFi modem even after setting it up and activating my router with spectrum.

i have bought brand new Ethernet cords and they work fine but for some reason when I connect my sb8200 to my wifi router, the internet globe light turns red on the wifi router when I connect it to my cable modem but when I connect my pc to the cable modem, I can get on the internet with my pc. To top it all off, my sb8200 keeps refusing to connect to the admin page for the cable modem!

please help!

Yes! I was able to fix the issue by turning off BOTH the SB8200 and my wifi router as well as disconnecting the coax cable from the cable modem. I powered on the SB8200 WITHOUT the coax cable connected, then after it was done powering on, I connected the wifi router to it and after they were BOTH done setting up I finally connected in the coax cable and everything started to work properly again!

thank you for your time and help on the issue plemans!

The SB8200 has 2x ethernet jacks on the back. But the vast majority of ISP’s only support a single public IP address. Meaning only 1 device can be connected to it for most ISP’s.

So shut of the modem and the router. Disconnect all the devices from the modem and power it back on. Once its fully booted, plug the router into port 1 on the router and power the router on. Give it a bit to fully boot and then run its internet setup process (for whatever router you have).

Don’t connect anything else to the sb8200 other than the router.
