SB8200 allows hard wire connection but will not recognize any router

Forum|alt.badge.img

My modem is sending information to the router but not allowing the router to the internet. I have tried this on 3 different routers, all different brands.

Seems like the sb8200 is setup correct but the problem is the “hardwired” devices.

Even though the sb8200 has 2x ethernet ports, the majority of ISP’s only support a single connected device. Reason why is for consumer accounts, they only assign a single public ip address per account. That address should be assigned to the router so the router can assign private ip addresses to devices. If you have a different hardwired device connected to the sb8200 (and you confirmed its working), the router isn’t getting one. So disconnect everything from the sb8200 and power it off for a few minutes. power off the router too. then power the sb8200 back on and give it a few minutes. connect the router to port 1 after a few minutes and power it on. Run through setup on the router.

Could you let me know the LED light status on the modem SB8200?

Do you have an internet connection through a hardwired connection?

May I know the router’s manufacturer that you are trying to connect with SB8200?
