My SB8200 modem has stopped working. When plugged in nothing happens, no lights. We just had a storm so we unplugged it before the power went out (which it did). Now that the electricity is back and we plugged it back in it is apparently broken.
Do I need to get a replacement or is there a way to fix it?
+41You can check to make sure you plugged in the correct power plug to it.
Or if you have a power supply from a different device that has the exact some voltage and polarity, you can check to see if its a power supply issue.
How old is it?
The modem was not that old, like 3 years maybe? It was using the corrext power supply however. Took it to the local compiter shop and they said it was not repairable. My best guess is that the lightning strike that hit a tree in my backyard traveled through the cable and went right to the modem. Makes no sense to me. Fortunately I already got a new modem so we have internet again 👍
