Trying to log into an active modem by using the browser.  Used the default password (last 8 s/n) and then it immediately prompts me to change the password; I’m good with that.  But when I enter the new password (example Abc#1234) is continues to prompt me to enter a valid password.  According to the displayed syntax it is correct.  I’ve tried multiple variations and when I leave something out the correct error message displays (such as numeric required, etc.).  I’m stuck in an infinite loop; every time I use a valid password I continue to get the popup “192.168.100.1 says Please enter a valid New Password.”  Modem is running fine so I don’t want to reset the modem.  Any suggestions for a solution?

Since you are unable to change password for the GUI web portal, I suggest you to try with different device and different browser.

After that if the problem persists, I suggest you to factory reset the modem.

Factory reset doesn’t make any changes in the configurations since its cable modem.
