Is there a fix for this expected? or will i need to do this every time i want to take a peek at my modem.

This is not an issue that can be fixed and requires a workaround. When the modem is not connected to the Internet Service Provider (ISP), its default IP address does not change to a public IP address, which allows you to access the modem’s interface.

For example, when the coaxial cable is not connected to the modem, you can access the modem interface. However, once the coaxial cable is connected and the modem establishes a connection with the ISP, the IP address changes. This change is the reason why the workaround is required
