I have recently purchased a SURFboard SB8200 and was working thru the activation with Xfinity. During the activation process the agent said they received an error code that the serial number already exists. Error code [] [].(!{2}!) This unit was brand new. How do I get around this?

                       SB8200 is just a cable modem so you can activate modem from your end on the Xfinity application, to do that you can follow the steps mentioned on link below on direct connection without router. You can try this after resetting modem for 30secs without coax cable and if still unable to activate modem you need to return the modem to the place of purchase and get replaced.
