My internet usage all of a sudden increased exponentially and I’m not doing anything different. Cable Co. said that someone might have hacked into modem remotely. What are steps to eliminate this and get usage back to normal? I have an SBG10.

First of all, it’s not possible to hack a preconfigured modem or gateway, as these devices simply act as intermediaries between your internet service provider and your connected devices. If someone were to attempt hacking, it would typically involve targeting the end devices such as mobile phones, computers, and similar equipment.

Another possibility is that someone may be connected to your Wi-Fi network, which could be causing the issue. To prevent this, you can try changing the Wi-Fi credentials on your SBG10.

Please refer to the link below for detailed instructions on how to update your Wi-Fi network settings

Thank you for the instructions! Do I have to be within range of the modem to access the login page or can I access remotely? I am not having any luck doing it remotely 😞

Unfortunately, remote access to the SBG10 is not possible. You need to be within the network, meaning you must be connected to the SBG10’s Wi-Fi to manage its settings.
