Hello. I recently bought a TP-link RE200 range extender. I had no trouble setting it up and extending my 2.4 and 5G home Wi-Fi networks from my SBG10 router.

However, the extended networks don't have Internet. I've tried manually setting IP address, DHCP, I've gone into the router's control page and input the extender's MAC address, made sure that the settings allowed for external device connections, nothing has worked. I have spent many hours over the past week with customer service at TP-Link and my ISP, and no one can seem to help me, and wouldn't you know it, my Arris Surfboard warranty just ended a couple months ago so their tech support won't help me.

Does anyone know anything about this issue?

Please connect any device to the SBG10’s Wi-Fi network and verify that you can access the internet. Once the connection is confirmed, re-pair the TP-Link extender. If the extender supports WPS pairing, you can complete this process by logging into its web interface.

For detailed steps on using the WPS method, please refer to the link below.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I just tried this method, and it said it was connected, but I still had no luck getting Internet from the extended networks.

I reset the router as well

Did you set it up with WPS both times?
If so, don’t. WPS is supposed to be an universal pairing but it doesn’t always.

Try resetting the tplink and installing manually.

No, I have set it up several different ways, and I've spent hours with several people at TP-Link trying a variety of different installation methods including the app, the browser page, changing DNS, DHCP, etc.

They couldn't figure out why it would extend the network but not allow Internet in the extended networks, so they advised I contact the company that made the router.

I’ve tested tons of extenders. The router doesn’t care whats connecting to it. The only time that isn’t the case is if you’re using parental controls or access control. Are you using any of those?

I don't think so. I never set any up, but I went into the router's control page just to double check and I didn't see any settings which should obstruct.

Maybe I just have a faulty extender 🤔

I’d try exchanging it or returning it. I’ve never ran into that much issues with an extender and I’ve probably tested around 20x of them
