Hi all, just moved into a new apartment and have working ethernet ports in all the rooms. There is one coax port in the apartment, however whenever I connect to it, none of the proper lights on the router light up (send/receive blinks and online doesn’t turn on at all). When we connect just the ethernet to it, the wifi will kind of work for a bit but then losses connection soon after. Can our router work solely connected to ethernet, or do we need a working coax connection?

Hello Jeoreo

Coax connection is must to get internet connection to the modem. Coax line from the internet service provider will only provide the internet connection after the modem activated by the ISP. In this case we would suggest you to try re provisioning modem by your internet service provider to get internet connection. Perform basic trouble shooting like restarting modem for a minute or perform hard reset on the modem without coax cable for 30secs that will also help you to get internet back if you face no internet connection even after activation. For more configuration of your modem you can use the steps mentioned on the link
