I just noticed that my Ethernet connection does not work from my modem. The wifi that I use daily is working just fine, but I recently noticed that my only wired connection is no longer working. My only Ethernet connection is my security camera system, and I have not checked to see if it was online in months, so who knows how long this issue has been going on for. I have tried to connect the Ethernet cable to different devices and use different Ethernet cables and reset the modem to no success.
I am wondering if there is an easy way to tell if the Ethernet ports are broken or if there is some way to reset them. Both the green and orange lights are always on for all 4 ports even when nothing is connected. Is this normal? Or does this in itself indicate a problem? There was a power surge in my neighborhood a year ago. Could this have damaged the Ethernet ports but not the wireless Cabo ability of my modem?
Any information would be appreciated. My modem is no longer under warranty.
