I currently use a arris SBG7400AC2 which has stopped working. I currently have Xfinity Wi-Fi one gig. Are use the Internet only for streaming and Internet services. Should I replace it with the same router or a different one

According to Xfinity, the SBG7400AC2 does not currently support a 1 Gbps speed plan, which could be one reason the gateway lost connection.

We recommend contacting your Internet Service Provider to downgrade your speed plan and then reprovision the gateway.

The plan shouldn’t “stop” your usage. It either died or who knows because we don’t have much details on what actually happened to it.

If it was me, I’d upgrade to a modem/router that actually supports your speeds and is a docsis 3.1 modem anyway.
