I bought this unit in May 2021.  It is rated for WIFI 5.  Are there any updates (firmware) to improve the current speed? 

Can it be improved to WIFI 6 or do I need a new device?

A Wi-Fi 5 gateway cannot be upgraded to Wi-Fi 6 through a software update because the difference lies in the hardware. Wi-Fi 6 requires specific components and technology that are built into the device itself. To use Wi-Fi 6, you would need to replace your current Wi-Fi 5 gateway with a Wi-Fi 6-compatible gateway.

To help isolate the issue, could you please confirm:

  • The name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP)
  • The speed plan you have subscribed to
  • Whether the slow speed occurs only on Wi-Fi-connected devices, only on wired devices, or on both
  • If the issue affects all devices or just one specific device
